Athens – Athens (population 104,000) is located 70 miles east-northeast of Atlanta, within 40 miles of South Carolina, and not far from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is home to the University of Georgia, with 44,000 students. It is both a charming, historic city, and it is a “college town.” It has many cultural activities and events, and outstanding amenities.
Gainesville – Gainesville (population 26,000) is located in the northeastern part of the state, in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, 45 miles from Atlanta. The area, which is known for its scenic beauty and access to many recreational activities, is home to Brenau University and Gainesville College. It offers arts and culture, excellent healthcare, good shopping, many dining choices, an affordable lifestyle, and Southern hospitality.
Golden Isles – The Golden Isles refers to the port city of Brunswick (population 16,000) and the barrier islands of St. Simons (17,000), Little St. Simons (a resort only), Sea Island (700), and Jekyll Island (1,000). Savannah – Savannah is a busy port city at the border of South Carolina and Georgia. Thomasville – Thomasville (population 18,200) is located in the extreme southwestern part of Georgia, near the Florida border, just 35 miles from Tallahassee. Its roots are from a period at the end of the 19th century when it was “a grand winter resort” for wealthy northerners. Called “The City of Roses”, it is a very charming city that seems to welcome visitors and outsiders alike.
