Bar Harbor – Bar Harbor (population 5,000) is on the Maine coast, 46 miles from Bangor. This picturesque village offers a surprisingly large number of amenities and cultural activities. It was at one time second only to Newport, RI, as a summer retreat from the ultra-rich. It is virtually surrounded by beautiful Acadia National Park, with 50 miles of carriage roads, 120 miles of hiking rails and two sand beaches. It also has three 18-hole golf courses and excellent specialty shopping.
Brunswick – Brunswick (population 22,000) is located on the coast, 25 miles northeast of Portland. It is a picturesque and historic New England community that dates back to 1628. It has many amenities and is within easy reach of Portland, Maine’s largest city, as well as many of the charming coastal communities. The region has a number of artisans and it promotes and celebrates the arts. It is also home to Bowdoin College and the Naval Air Station Brunswick.
Camden – Camden (population 5,300) is a picturesque coastal community in the Midcoast region of Maine. It is about 60 miles north of Portland, one hour south of Bangor, and is nestled around a well-protected harbor on Penobscot Bay. It has a great deal of charm, the arts flourish, and the events calendar is full, which leads to many cultural activities. There is an abundance of natural beauty and outstanding opportunities for outdoor recreation. Its population swells three-fold in the summer months. The cost of living is slightly above the national average.
