RMS Movers FAQ

  • What does RMS Movers mean by white-glove service?
White-glove service means RMS Movers will move your belongings with care, and fragile, high-value and bulky items receive extra attention. Customer service representatives, drivers and all other employees are happy to assist you. Furthermore, the company protects furnishings, dismantles and reassembles furniture, and delivers boxes to the room where you want to unpack.

  • Is RMS Movers insured?
Yes, all licensed moving companies must have insurance. U.S. DOT records show that RMS is insured up to $750,000. You can check the Illinois Commerce Commission to verify coverage. The company only insures contents damaged in the box during transport if it was packed by an employee.

  • Does RMS Movers move pianos and other oversize items?
Yes. The movers are trained and have the necessary equipment to transport pool tables, safes and other large, heavy items. RMS Movers’ employees also know how to package and move fine art and other delicate items. However, the company only moves upright pianos from ground level to ground level.

  • How do I pay RMS Movers?
The company takes payments via Visa, Mastercard or cash. You’ll need one of those credit cards for the $50 reservation fee. Office moves can be billed net 30.

  • Can I hire RMS Movers to pack some things while I pack other belongings?
Yes. You can hire RMS Movers to pack as much or little as you like. Pack items you box up yourself very carefully as the company doesn’t insure boxes their employees don’t pack.

Conclusion

RMS Movers is a full-service, white-glove moving service designed to make moving in the Chicago area less stressful. The company can handle just about any move from a basic household to dismantling an office and putting it back together at the destination. When you call RMS Movers for a quote, be sure to include everything you want moved on all levels of your home, including outbuildings.

They came unprepared (ie no dollies). I asked if they were familiar with Select comfort bed and I was assured they were. That was not the case. They damaged the mattresses which cost me $400 to have both replaced.

The first thing I ask in initial contact was if they could move an upright grand piano, I was told they could, but they had no idea how to move it. This is antique piano was scratch along the bottom and chunk concrete out the front stoop at old residence.

They also the damaged entrance of my new house both times where when they dropped it. The move took two days instead of one which was fault. I suggest you make sure list of items has everything on it.

My move two days when I expected one. I also had to have my two sons over to lift one end of the piano so I could remove the garbage they left. During both move they hit me up for money after they had load several of my possessions. I can't recommend.
