American Auto Shipping Vehicle Transport Services

Many car shipping companies only transport cars within the contiguous United States. Some have restrictions on the types of vehicles they can ship. American Auto Shipping coordinates transportation for all vehicles on wheels anywhere in the country, including Alaska, Hawaii and U.S. territories.

American Auto Shipping provides all shipping-related services for cars and other vehicles:

  • Door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal shipping. The shipping truck will usually pick up your vehicle at your home or business, and most deliveries go directly to a residential or business address. If this isn’t feasible, you can drop off and pick up your vehicle at terminals near the origin and destination.
  • Open or enclosed and flatbed shipments. American Auto Shipping can find carriers offering the preferred transport method for your vehicle. Most cars ship via open or enclosed transport, but a flatbed may be sufficient and less costly for short distances.
  • Local, long-distance and standby shipping. American Auto Shipping can coordinate shipping across town, across state lines or from coast to coast. The company also provides discounted standby shipping if you have wide flexibility with your shipping date.
  • RORO (roll-on, roll-off). RORO service is used for overseas shipment. Your car is “rolled on” the ship at the loading port and then “rolled off” the vessel at the destination.
  • Auction and dealer transportation services. American Auto Shipping handles volume shipments for car dealers and professional auction houses. Call for a quote before you buy a car online or at an on-site auction.

The company provides auto transportation specialists to answer questions or provide quotes via phone 24 hours a day.

American Auto Shipping Customer Service

American Auto Shipping provides a 24/7 concierge service to oversee your vehicle shipment from quote through delivery. Other perks include a free car wash after delivery and a free rental car for late deliveries.

American Auto Shipping agents have the experience required to find a car shipper to work with your schedule. Your shipping specialist will discuss the multiple levels of service the company offers and related costs. You pay a premium to have a car picked up the next day no matter what auto transport company you use. But American Auto Shipping will seek the lowest cost even for special orders.

American Auto Shipping Costs

The cost to ship a car depends on many variables, like the season, the size and type of vehicle, the shipping distance and route and more. You’ll find a recent quote comparison with other car shipping companies on American Auto Shipping’s website. The cost was $1,049 to ship a standard sedan from Los Angeles to New York. American Auto Shipping’s cost was up to $625 less than the competition.

American Auto Shipping researches discounts for popular and seasonal backhaul routes to help customers save money. You can pay with any major credit card for the down payment. The driver collects the remaining balance at delivery, when you pay with cash, a money order or certified check. Some carriers accept electronic payments through services like Zelle and Venmo, but you’ll need to line up those payment terms in advance.

How to Ship Your Vehicle with American Auto Shipping

Either complete the instant quote form on American Auto Shipping’s website, or call the company 24 hours a day. If you like the quote, you can complete your order online or via phone. American Auto Shipping then reserves a spot on a carrier’s trailer and gives you the details by phone and email:

  • Pickup and delivery date
  • The driver’s name
  • Driver’s phone number

Ask American Auto Shipping about discounts. If you’re willing to wait for pickup or delivery, your shipping specialist may be able to find you a deal.

American Auto Shipping Complaints

American Auto Shipping has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. We found some complaints on the BBB site, but the company addressed each one in great detail. It’s rare for a company to maintain an A+ rating with some BBB complaints, which reflects well on American Auto Shipping.

Consumers on Google and Birdeye give the company an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Move.org rates the business 4.5 on a 5-star scale.

American Auto Shipping FAQ

  • Does American Auto Shipping keep vehicles on the same truck from pickup through delivery?

American Auto Shipping completes shipping orders with just one carrier most of the time. However, a local truck may pick up your vehicle and bring it to a shipping hub. The car then gets loaded with others on a long-haul trailer at the hub. The second truck makes the delivery.

  • Does American Auto Shipping track my vehicle while it’s transported?

Many auto transport companies offer real-time tracking, but the service requires expensive GPS systems. Not all car shippers that work with American Auto Shipping provide this level of tracking. However, your car shipping representative can give you updates until your vehicle reaches its destination.

  • Do I need to insure my vehicle while on the truck contracted by American Auto Shipping?

All auto transport carriers carry at least a $300,000 insurance policy, and some carry up to $1 million. Your car insurance coverage is secondary to the shipping company’s insurance. Owners of vintage and other high-value vehicles should discuss coverage with their insurance agent.

  • Do I need the vehicle’s title to ship a car with American Auto Shipping?

You do not need the title to the vehicle to ship it with American Auto Shipping. Many customers ship vehicles that belong to relatives or set up shipping arrangements on behalf of friends or family. Gaining access to the title in these situations can be a hassle. If you have the keys to the car, you can ship the vehicle.

  • Do I have to be present when American Auto Shipping’s truck picks up or drops off my vehicle?

Someone must be present when the driver picks up and drops off your vehicle. That individual can be a trusted friend or relative. American Auto Shipping does not require someone to be available if you use terminal-to-terminal transport.

Conclusion

American Auto Shipping provides more car shipping services and options than many of its competitors. The company has the resources necessary to plan for and coordinate safe shipment of vehicles. American Auto Shipping has a reputation for honesty and prices that beat the industry average.
