After much procrastination and concern for the cost involved, I purchased the American Standard Independence Package with in-line heater and outward swing door in March, 2022 for my son who is mentally and physically challenged.

The sales representative (Don **) was totally amazing. He explained every aspect of the installation process and conducted many measurements as well as conferring with the installation team regarding any questions I had. He made every effort to ensure a smooth installation process.

The installation team was just as professional and proficient. Upon arrival, I was asked to inspect the tub for approval before the process began. They removed our old tub, did the necessary minor plumbing and electrical work, installed the sub panel, the tub and acrylic surround, shower glide bar, and 2 safety bars all within a five hour timeframe.

They cleaned up afterwards, hauled the old tub, etc. away. Prior to their leaving I was asked to inspect their work, they filled the tub with water and reviewed the operation process with me.

My son loves his new tub and so do I. I am his caregiver and I love the tub as well. I do not regret for this purchase for one minute. It has been worth every cent. I highly recommend American Standard to anyone who is considering a walk-in tub. Most respectfully submitted, Lenda **.

My tub is ok. Somehow there was some confusion on my order and I didn’t get the tub that I wanted but I accepted it. It came about four months late.

But my real complaint is about the customer service rep that I talk to in early December. She was rude and no help at all.

The tub was more expensive than I thought to have American Standard do the installation. When they install it although you get a lifetime warranty which is well worth it. The tub is made from acrylic as opposed to being fiberglass and gelcoat which will yellow and crack.

I had other companies that came out and they were more expensive for a lesser product. My wife loves her tub and says how she feels so much better after she uses it. She is like a new person and has so much more energy and pep. The tub was about $19,000. installed.

The door opens inward which makes it difficult to get in tub. I was not told that the door could have been made to open outward which would have been awesome. When the team open my doorway they left a mess and I have to hire somebody to come and fit the incomplete flooring they remove.

I have to cover this with a rug to prevent someone from falling and hurting themself. I was never told upfront that would to find someone to fix my floor back. Otherwise, this project would have been a no go.

I call customer service and the person I talked to was very rude. He told things I should have done prior to having the tub in which was not explain to me by representative who sold me the tub. His name was CJ.

To rate customer service, I give them a poor. He would not put my full complaint into the system. He wants to put what he wants to write. Still waiting on some resolution but I will not hold my breath. When I show my tub to peoples, I show them the negative problems that I have endure.

I have not and will not recommend this company to nobody because bad taste they left in my mouth. These tubs cost a fortunate to received substandard work. Please do your homework before buying this tub.

I bought a walk in bath from American Standard last month and the process was seamless and we absolutely love it. Our salesman was very professional and not pushy at all. My wife and I were pleased throughout the whole process from start to finish.

We have friends that have one already but we had 2 other companies come show their tubs anyways and it was very easy to decide that American Standard had the best product for the best price (it's not even close when side by side).

The TRUE lifetime warranty with all the jets and lights are great. I really like how it drains so quickly with the pump they put in them. The installers put drop cloths down and were quick and professional. Kudos to American Standard!!

Our tub was installed in August, 2020 and when it is working, it is FANTASTIC and we love it. However, in the 11 months that we have had it, we have had 3 needs for service and each of them leaves us without a tub for a long time.

The first one the drain stopped working and it took the service person 2 weeks to come and fix. The second there was a leak of incoming water from their plumbing work and it caused damage to the ceiling below the tub. That too was fixed but took a long time with no tub.

Now the third, the tub electronics has stopped working - totally down. I called and they sent replacement parts that arrived in just a few days. The service man was supposed to call me and schedule the repair. That was 11 days ago and no contact.

I called Texas home office and expressed my dissatisfaction and they said they too had not heard from the service man and they said they would contact the service man and they gave me the name of a manager to speak with. So I called the manager.

It has been 4 days now and he has not replied to my call. Terrible service model. Today I spoke with another person in Texas who said they would personally reach out to the service man to get him to call me and set up a time for repair. I wonder whether that will do any good.

I am planning to contact the Better Business Bureau to let them know what a terrible service American Standard offers. We paid over $16,000 for our tub. You would think that we could get better service.

We are pleased with the tub. We have had the tub one year. Unfortunately where American Standard fails is in customer service. We paid a lot of money for the bathtub. Part of the reason we went with American Standard was because of the lifetime warranty.

The water jets quit working three weeks ago. We have been unable to even get an appointment to have the jets fixed. I have called three times, each time waiting on hold for an extremely long time.

Once I speak with a representative, they inform me that a repair person will be contacting me to set up an appointment. The repair person has yet to call. Three phone calls and three weeks and we are still at stage one of this repair process.

What good is a lifetime warranty if they will not actually fix the bathtub when it is broken? Very disappointed. Will not do business with American Standard again.

I purchased the American Standard Liberation walk-in tub. It had every option available. The electrician and installers did an outstanding job. The installers worked for American Standard which I consider a plus. The installation took all day and everything went smoothly.

American Standard has a lifetime warranty. The tub drains in 1-2 minutes while other brands take 6-15 minutes. The door swings outward not inward like other brands. The tub included a heater, massage jets, air jets, a light that changes colors, and aroma therapy.

I received a new toilet and a high end bidet for free as part of the deal. I highly recommend American Standard.

Horrible company!!! Damaged the house installing, tried to install the wrong back splash hoping I would not notice, after I had paid $500 extra for the better back splash. District manager lied to me claiming to be the CEO, he was rude, and ignorant.

After installed the drain handle broke within days. Called them for three weeks, finally the installer called and said he would be here, then never showed up, nor answered calls.

Please save yourself a headache, I should add we bought their best model over $18,000 to install. As I said HORRIBLE company avoid at all cost!!!!

Well where should I start? First of all I chose American Standard because as a 70 year old we grew up with knowing that American Standard was a good product so when I saw the advertisement rather than go with the Safe Step company I felt American Standard would give me excellent results. Wrong wrong wrong.

Once the product was in and impl I noted the next day with the light shining across the surface that the paneling was all scratched up.

They took off the covering plastic and then cut the paneling outside on the ground and then brought it in the house so of course it cause scratching of the surface that's number.

Number two the tub made a noise in the drain pipe. I called them several times about it and they told me the reason that I have it is because my drain must be backed up. Well it wasn't backed up.

When they were here putting it in and there's no one else here but me they finally sent someone else out to see about it after I sent an email complaining about the three phone calls later however in the email they were not nice as to the response of my complaint.

Repair person came out who's always very courteous. I showed him the problem. He corrected the corking and what it was was the overfill drain the cap just had not been screwed on properly. Go figure. Not a backup in the pipe. 10 second issue.

Third issue was when they cut a hole in the insulation under my house to put the pipes In for the tub and left the shut off valves under the house which were not originally under the house.

They were on top of the floor in the bathroom and left a gaping hole in the installation and never resealed it or covered it with plastic or anything so of course I had a draft coming in my bathroom that made you feel like you were outside.

At my expense I had that repaired because it's winter and it was cold in my bathroom. I was told the customer service women the issue and she said that I did not have permission to reseal my own floor insulation when I called about being we paid for the repair.

I wish I had a read all of these reviews before I went with this company. I probably would not have even gotten the tub. 15000 I could have paid on Wanda.B a new car.

We got the Liberation tub by American Standard. Acrylic quality is excellent as well as solid metal faucets, etc. The cheap fake marble surround that comes with the tub looks like something out of a house trailer, so we paid the installer for ceramic tile.

Whirlpool jets are not nearly as powerful as another brand we had at a previous house, but I suppose we can live with it. Coordination with installers could be better.

American Standard acts as if they have no part of installation, when in actuality I have read that they own the installation company, Safety Tubs LLC.

50 gallon gas W/H is marginal when it comes to filling this tub with 100 degree water. We probably paid too much for this tub, as we apparently missed out on a $1,500 discount.

I was in the architectural design business for 44 years, had specified American Standard products from 1967-2012, so expected the best. I feel like we paid way too much for this tub and installation, but I suppose that is my fault.

In all, it’s a good product, supposedly with a lifetime warranty. I just hope we never have to pull the tub out of its surround for service. We are pretty much satisfied with the Liberation, just wish I had gone about it a little differently. Total cost was near 20 grand.

We bought the most expensive American Standard walk in tub you can buy. We are thinking now, that we should have explored more companies. It is 8 months old and two of the jets have never worked, and the pull out shower is broken.

We were told the part would be overnighted to us by Fedex, and that was a week ago and we still have not seen it. We called customer service a fourth time now, and they are trying to figure out where the part is. We were told the service man will not call until we got the part.

We should have received it 6 days ago. They don't seem very organized. The customer service person said she didn't have access to be able to track the package. Really? What good is customer service then? We are not really happy with this company at this point.

We have a very expensive tub that we can't use. Who knows when this will be resolved? They don't give the impression of being caring or quick to resolve the issue. If I were looking for a walk in tub I definitely would look at more options.

The salesman told us how wonderful this was and how the warranty was so great. I guess I should know by now that if I am told how truly wonderful something is, I should be more suspicious.

Look at all of your options before buying! And remember salesmen are try to sell you a product so they can make money.

This tub stay tore up from one way or another. We have not used it a whole month yet and we have had it going on a year and a half. The first thing was it was leaking under it getting my carpet wet in living room. Took them 3 months to come fix it.

I had to threaten them that if they didn't come fix it they would be hearing from my lawyer. #2 the knob broke and it took them 2 months to come fix it. Then #3 the jets stopped working. Took 3 months for them to fix that. # lightning struck it. Jets would just stay on.

Well with covid going around we waited to call so that time was on us. #4 now the jets have stopped working again. The lights don't come on. The drain hasn't work since they fixed it last time. It is messed up more than it works. I am not happy 15000.

Their name does not reflect their standards for your safety SENIORS “Beware” this company does not take any precautions regarding Covid 19. We told them we were a compromised house hold kidney transplant patient, COPD patient, so please take extra care with us. We even canceled once due to the fear. They assured us they had our safety first.

The workers showed up with old work gloves, no masks and the office never even told them about our health. They do not care about you only there bottom line and profits. It’s evident in the Wood they use it is one grade above particle board. It is sad when a company that says they are there for seniors but really for $18,000 they know you are to old to complain. You are a disappointment to all who trust you. Judy **

The tub was purchased and they sent "their" installer. The installer Chris came with a helper and during the procedure asked permission to cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling. This would be covered with a plastic piece and would accommodate the installation, so we gave permission.

Chris left several times and left his helper to do all the work, while he constantly said he had built houses with his grandfather since he was 14 and was capable of many construction projects. The tub leaked within 3 days of the installation process being completed all over my kitchen and granite counter tops and new cupboards.

I called and they told me to hire a local plumber and with their approval they would cover the cost, which they did. They make their own parts so you must wait for them to ship them. The plumber was approved and checked "everything" including the area in the kitchen that had been cut and revealed plumbing. He then informed me that all of the parts used within the tub were very cheap and that NY State required any plumbing to be done by a "certified plumber".

He also informed me that this gentleman "Chris, the installer", had cut the main JOIST THAT SUPPORTED THE TUB RIGHT WHERE THE WATER ENTERS. I called the company immediately and was told that the installer was indeed not a certified plumber but that insurance. Meanwhile the toilet that came with the tub and also installed by the same person, ALSO LEAKED INTO MY KITCHEN.

To make a long story short, just now a year to date to this month and the shower that comes with the tub, now leaked into my kitchen. The insurance company was called and said it was a legitimate claim and sent a check for ALL THE REPAIRS. They would pursue American Standard.

The plumbing authority was called and they would pursue them. The repairs included fixing the joist that was cut to support the tub, removing cupboards and replacing drywall that had been ruined from the water, replacing half the kitchen ceiling along with a ceiling fan and light fixture and painting. IT'S BEEN NOTHING BUT A NIGHTMARE WITH THIS COMPANY AND THEY HAVE KEPT THE SAME EMPLOYEE AND ACTUALLY OFFERED TO SEND "HIM" BACK INTO OUR HOME!!!

Now we have to call this company back to get a completely new shower hose and have a plumber approved to install that!!!! WARNING, WARNING DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I've been thinking about buying a walk-in tub after reading the reviews on this site. I have decided that I'm not going to get an American Standard walk-in tub and I probably won't get one at all because of all the hassles that everyone has to go through every time they need a repair or the job done right the first time.

Tub went in and two days later a leak and the bidet wouldn't work, A few weeks and tech comes out, replaces the breaker and fix the leak. One year later the toilet seat was cracked and they would send out another and when it arrives give them a call for tech to come out. Three weeks later I called and they said, "FIX IT on your own." Rude.

The installation of our Liberation American Standard walk in tub was an unprofessional disaster from start to finish. The work done was not in compliance with code, and the state electrical compliance inspector had to contact Eric **, the regional installation manager, to ensure that a qualified electrician fix the problems created by their installer. The process took from May 18, to Oct. 22. Needless to say we can hardly stand to look at the tub let alone use it.

The quality of the product is good, but the installers did a poor job and another had to come to correct the errors. I recently had the extension partition collapse due to improper installation. They did not put the support brackets in place. It has been impossible to get them to come and repair this issue. It appears that they are not a member of the BBB because they are not listed with them... Based on the poor installation and very sorry response to warranty issues, I would have never purchased this product. Fortunately I put a 1500 down payment with my credit card and will be disputing the charge..

We had a saleswoman from Olive Branch, Mississippi come to our home. She asked personal questions that would have been a Hippa violation. She said that American Standard makes 28? Different versions of a walk in tub but only let us see photos of one model. We have an 8’x10’ area to install a tub, I don’t understand why only one version would fit. She looked in areas of our home I asked her not to. She took photos without my permission and gave us a price of $17,700 to $19,900 and tried to get a check today. She didn’t leave a business card or any information about the American Standard line. I don’t understand why there isn’t a show room where we can sit in different tubs. We are in our early sixties, what would she do with a senior citizen with some impairment? I can’t believe a high quality line like American Standard does business this way. Very disappointed with the sales experience.

I'm so disappointed with this company wish I could submit pictures of the cracks around the tub.. The many showing nails left indoors. The frame work is ridiculous. The wall left unpainted that they had to tear hole to get to plumbing. They even tore hole in carpet leaving pad showing. For the amount of money paid it should be done correctly. I shouldn't have to make numerous calls to get through to the company. It was easy to get you to come out. Poor company that takes advantage of elderly.

I signed up for the Liberation walk-in tub/shower combo, based on the company’s well-known name. The salesman gave a great PowerPoint presentation; problem was the product didn’t live up to the hype. The tub was too small. After 2 more unsuccessful attempts to find a product that would actually meet our needs, I cancelled the contract. Yes it was after the recision period, but I wouldn’t have cancelled if the company had delivered what they promised. I’ve been waiting for my refund since last November. All of their Customer Service people kept promising that the refund was in process and it would take 4-6 weeks. However I found out today that the refund request was JUST processed on Jan 7th, and that it will be another 4-6 weeks. I’ll never consider American Standard for any major purchase ever again.

I had an American Standard walk in tub installed recently, costing about $7000 just for the tub. My hands are arthritic and I am not able to use the lever to lock the door. It requires too much strength. Also I used it with the help of my daughter locking the tub and it took a very long time to fill. I was running out of hot water before it filled. I turned on the air and jets which worked for a few minutes and shut off. I cannot get those working again. I am likely going to have my builder remove the tub. Very disappointing waste of money. It does drain quickly.

My experience with AMERICAN standard services in regard to their Life Time Warranty in regard to the liberation walk-in-tub has been very disappointing. When it worked it was as advertised, fantastic... but if it breaks down... then YOU will have problems. My tub has stopped working 4 times in less than 9 months of purchase. Customer service representatives Alexas and Kim have tried bypassing my concerns up the ladder but that ladder must be broken. The reps have even expressed mailed me the electrical parts to my home I received ln July. I even called “Rick” the technician who installed and got my liberation tub temporarily working the 3 other times it stopped working. I even call “Rick” this 4th malfunction several times... no return call from many messages left on his phone by me and customer service representatives. Apparently “Rick” is the only certified and not afraid to work on the liberation tub. Also in my four bathroom home I have a JACUZZI regular tub with jets that I have had for 14 years no problems. The JACUZZI COLLECTION now have walk-in-rubs and 24 dedicated technicians to provide service... but I chose an AMERICAN standard product... the name should speak for itself... SAD.

My husband and I have been looking at walk in tub for a while. There is so much out there on the internet but speaking to a "non pushy salesperson" was difficult to come by. We found the companies that came for an in-home visit wanted us to make a decision right away and they kept offering discounts to decide right then. We never purchase anything that way so we searched a around on the internet and found a company Theratub their website is **. We reached out to their representative and they were polite and provided a quotation right away with no games. The price was under $10,000 for all the bells and whistles on the tub. This has been one of the best purchases and I would recommend a walk in tub for anyone that is planning on aging in their home.

Luckily I read Ivan O’s review in time submitted two weeks ago. I live out of town and wanted to help my 90 year old father get a walk in tub quote since he is struggling with his current tub to take a shower or bath. I called 9-4-18 and talked to a rep to schedule someone to come out while I was here visiting. To my surprise they said they could have someone here 9-5-18 at 1:00. Not even 10 minutes later I had some call to confirm the appointment, address, time, telephone number for the quote. Again quite impressive.

That’s where it ends. Although we had some errands to do we made it home by 12:30 and waited until 2 pm... no one showed. I called the number they told me to if I had a problem. After explaining my situation they put me on hold for 5 minutes, came back on and apologized saying that person cancelled (no one notified us). She then said a manager would get back with me in 5 minutes or less... still waiting at 4pm. As Ivan ‘s review said and I concur, absolutely no sense of urgency. Glad I caught it before we committed to them installing a tub for us!! SAD!!

I helped my mother get her Liberation walk-in-tub on 10-10-15 and she paid $15,110.31, that she paid with a check out of her savings. The installer had to take her door frame apart to get the tub in and had told me he had done many, many of these and would put everything back to where you could not tell it had been altered. When he was done and gone there were over 50 nails put in the same three boards that were used to re-frame the doorway, one was split but they used it anyway.

I had been asked to stay away because I was making the installers nervous, so I did not see the mess until they had left. They never even cleaned up the mess they made, that was left for my 89 year old mother to take care of. I called to complain of the lack of professional work and was told that my mother had left a great review.

When asked, she said when she tried to complain about the work, the interviewer hung up on her. Now on 8-03-18 the tub has a leak and I started calling on 8-04-18 @ 9:45AM Pacific Time, 11:23AM 8-04-18 Pacific Time, no response. I called again 8-06-18, 9:15AM Pacific Time talked to Alexas, I told her that this was my mothers only bathroom and bathtub. i was told a installer would return my call, I got no response. Called again on 8-08-18 12:52PM talked to Alexas again was given installer Grady's phone #called him 1:09PM no return call. Called again on 8-10-18, 1:50PM talked to Kim who transferred me to Jackelyn who transferred me to Alexas who offered me the installers phone # I said I had already called the installer and left a message & got no Response. She said she would have his supervisor call me back, that never happened.

Called again 8-14-18 , 8:00 AM on Kims personal # was told that she would have new installer call me, that never happened either . 8-15-18 Finally gave-up and called American Standard Corporate Office , talked to Christie@ 10:50 AM Pacific Time ,I told her that this was my 89year old mothers only bath tub and she had recently fallen and broke her back, so she desperately needed her tub! And I was told that someone in customer service would call me back, it is now 11:30AM and still not one person from this blessed company has called me back to schedule to fix my 89 year old mothers tub.

I guess this should teach people not to pay cash for one of these, because then you have no leverage to get them to honor their lifetime warranty. They should only be paid for on credit or on a contract so if there is a problem with one a person could stop payment until they come out and fix it, because it looks like they will not fix it on their own good reputation! This whole thing is really sad that they would take advantage of a senior citizen like this!
