Allied Transportation Group Review

Allied Transportation Group is a full-service moving broker specializing in long-distance relocation across the contiguous United States (except Alaska and Hawaii). Allied Transportation Group offers interstate residential moving, long-distance auto transport, heavy and specialty item moving, and even commercial moving.

Allied’s premium packing services set them apart from other long-distance moving companies. This service wraps your most precious valuables and prepares your fragile items for travel, including pianos, mirrors, paintings, and crystals. Professional movers also provide full breakdown and disassembly of furniture. Teams are trained to handle specialty items on staircases, steps, and tight spaces.

You can purchase straight delivery for a fee, but we suspect some customers might opt out of the service given all belongings are stored in top-notch, climate-controlled storage facilities.

Pros

  • 30 days of free storage with pickup and redelivery
  • Premium packing services
  • Heavy and specialty item moving
  • Climate-controlled storage facilities

Cons

  • No in-town residential moving services
  • Higher costs during peak season
  • No online booking
  • Not available in Alaska or Hawaii

Allied Transportation Group Services

Allied Transportation Group’s moving vehicles are authorized Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)—a government agency that regulates trucker safety, efficiency, and professionalism. Given the company’s focus on interstate moves, this means your possessions are handled by a licensed, high-quality driver.

Long-distance moving experts will assess your specialty items and identify the right equipment to move, pack, and unload them to ensure your belongings reach your destination in perfect condition. There’s no extra charge for tape and moving blankets.

Allied Transportation Group offers 30 days of free, climate-controlled storage for clients who need a little more time to settle in or want to unpack gradually. Pick-up and redelivery come at no extra cost with your move. Preparing for a bi-coastal move? Allied Transportation Group’s auto transport division will move your vehicle, too.

Customer service is available 24/7. And if you book during the off-season—between October and February—you can save 10% on your quote.

Allied Transportation Group Costs

Allied Transportation group quotes are based on cubic feet and how much volume they take up in the truck. Premium packing services and specialty items will bump up your cost of moving services. When budgeting for a long-distance mover, consider these factors that will influence your quote:

  • Distance
  • Pick-up location and drop-off destination
  • Room count
  • Choice of service
  • Time of year

Moving companies typically charge more for rural or hard-to-access locations. You’ll also pay more during peak summer and spring times. Between October and February, the off-season, you can save 10% on the entire cost. Many moving companies also offer lower prices if you are flexible on pick-up and delivery dates. Ask about any discounts or specials during the quote process. Fill out the free instant quote tool online or call to get started.

A typical contract includes up to $10,000 of standard cargo protection based on $0.60 per pound, per item. For an additional cost, you can select full-value protection, which will insure your items for what they’re worth if the carrier packs them.

Additional fees from Allied Transport Group include:

  • More than one flight of stairs
  • Long carry (over 75 feet) of $1 per foot
  • Elevator fee of $75
  • Shuttle service if a semi-trailer cannot park close to the home; minimum of $300
  • Additional packing of fragile items not listed on estimate

How to Book a Shipment with Allied Transportation Group

Allied Transport Group will leverage its network of nationwide carriers to move your things. Then, the carrier will draft an estimate before loading and picking up your items. A 15% deposit is required upon booking, 50% of the balance is due at pick up, and the remainder before items are unloaded at the destination. Carriers reserve the right to collect an additional deposit before crossing state lines. However, it is important to know that the pick-up, load, and delivery dates are only estimates and are not guaranteed.

Unethical business practices. Horrible. Took our deposit of $974. Wanted to charge us double upon pick up, which we refused, especially if it wasn't in writing. No one has contacted us either by phone or email. They made us forfeit our deposit. We had been in contact with Mark for months (since November 2023) about our move. Finally had it scheduled for pick up yesterday 4/9/2024. We weren't aware that the move had to do with cubic square feet nor were we aware of the size of the boxes. Mark did not tell me that any of this mattered. He told me to give a rough estimate of the amount of boxes. Never updated any other info during the times we talked throughout the months of November-April.

Please beware, this company is unethical and pretty much trap you with no recourse other than to quit and forfeit your deposit or move forward with the move and pay double and possibly get your stuff damaged and/or stolen. The reviews are horrific and the BBB complaints are unbelievable. They will comment back in a rude way or totally not communicate with you at all. They will also blame you for signing the deceptive contract. Do not book this company. You will regret it.

These morons are nothing more than thieves. The customer service doesn't exist. They lost numerous personal belongings. Some of the ones they actually managed to deliver were damaged. And I have 3 other customers personal belongings that they delivered here. They say to reach out, I did by phone and left messages. I texted the number they provided....No response and I emailed....again No response. Don't use these bums!
